【摘要】:Therearedifferencesinopinionamongthoseconcernedwithsealanttechnologywhetherornotthisadhesion-in-peeltestsimulatesthetypeofstrainande-tensilestressesencounteredbyasealantinnormaluse.Nevertheless,thistestprovidesavaluablemeasurementoftheabilityofthecuredsealanttomaintainabondtothesubstrateunderseverepeelconditions.Manysealantmanufacturersutilizetheadhesion-in-peeltestfordeterminingtheadhesivecharacteristicsofsealant/primercombinationswithunusualorproprietarysubstrates.Thistestisespeciallyusefulforqualitymeasurementscomparingbatchesofthesamesealantrelativetoadhesionorforstudyingadhesionofagivensealanttoavarietyofsubstrates.Thistestmethodaloneisnotappropriateforcomparingtheoverallperformanceofdifferentsealantsinagivenapplication.Theadhesiveforcethatdeterminesifagivensealantisusefulinagivenapplicationalsodependsonthemodulusofelasticityandthedegreetowhichthesealantwillbestrained.Thistest,asitexists,doesnotconsiderthemodulusofelasticity,noramountofstressthatwillbeproducedbyagivenstraininanactualsealantinamovingjoint.Noknowncorrelationsaregiventorelateandapplymodulusvaluestothepeelvalues.Thistestrequiresthattheresultsindicatewhetherthefailuremodeisprimarilyadhesiveorcohesive.Itisimportanttonotethatacohesivefailureisnotnecessarilybetterthananadhesivefailure,iftheadhesivevalueissufficientfortheapplication.Havingadhesivefailureallowsonetostudythechangeofadhesionwithtimeandwiththevariousstressconditions.1.1Thistestmethodcoversalaboratoryprocedurefordeterminingthestrengthandcharacteristicsofthepeelpropertiesofacured-in-placeelastomericjointsealant,single-ormulticomponent,foruseinbuildingconstruction.1.2Thevaluesstatedinmetric(SI)unitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.1.3Thecommitteewithjurisdictionoverthisstandardisnotawareofanycomparablestandardspublishedbyotherorganizations.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
