【摘要】:Viscosityofdrivelinelubricantsatlowtemperatureiscriticalforbothgearlubricationandthecirculationofthefluidinautomatictransmissions.Forgearoils(GOs),theissueiswhetherthefluidcharacteristicsaresuchthattheoilwillflowintothechanneldugoutbythesubmergedgearsastheybeginrotatingandre-lubricatingthemastheycontinuetorotate.Forautomatictransmissionfluids,torque,andtractorfluidstheissueiswhetherthefluidwillflowintoapumpandthroughthedistributionsystemrapidlyenoughforthedevicetofunction.Thelowtemperatureperformanceofdrivelinelubricantflowcharacteristicswasoriginallyevaluatedbythechanneltest.Inthistest,apanwasfilledtoaspecifieddepthofapproximately2.5cmandthencooledtotesttemperature.Thetestwasperformedbyscrapingachannelthroughthefulldepthofthefluidandacrossthelengthofthepanafterithadsoakedattesttemperatureforaspecifiedtime.Thetimeittookthefluidtocoverthechannelwasmeasuredandreported.ThechanneltestwasreplacedbyTestMethodD2983in1971.TheresultsofthistestprocedurecorrelatewiththeviscometricmeasurementsobtainedinTestMethodD2983.Thecorrelationobtainedis:where:V
